Why would gods drink milk with spoon?

As devotees throng to feed gods milk with spoons it makes me wonder, why would the almighty gods, those gods who control the universe, who can fill the cosmos with milk, drink milk with tiny spoons? I’m a believer, I mean, I’m not a believer in the religious sense, but I believe things easily, and hence, if someone comes running to me and tells me that there is a miracle happening out some place, I’m prone to believing it without much ado. This world is full of miracles. Life itself is a miracle.
But why drink milk with a spoon? Today they’re drinking milk, tomorrow they’ll be shitting (where does all that milk go after all?). I don’t mean any disrespect.
Having said that, what’s really happening? An IIT professor yesterday said on TV that the newly-made idols suck in milk due to capillary action and people think gods are drinking milk. But then what about idols that have been there since time immemorial; even they are guzzling down spoonfuls of milk, causing a milk shortage everywhere. Is it really a miracle? But then again, why spoons?
There is a legend and I’m sure I don’t remember it correctly. There was this extremely simple kissan — a farmer — who was a stout devotee of Lord Krishna. Once the farmer falls sick, and Lord Krishna Himself comes to till his farm. Of course Lord Krishna comes to the farmer as a stranger seeking shelter for a few days. The problem with Lord Krishna is…in the story that is…he has to go back for a few hours to have dinner that His wife Rukmini cooks for him. The daily vanishing act begins to upset the simple farmer who wants to have dinner with the guest who is helping him so much. So one day, before Lord Krishna can go, the farmer ties His hands and holds the other end of the rope securely in his hands to force his guest to have dinner with him (may be at lunch time Lord Krishna is always working and hence cannot share lunch with the farmer). That day Lord Krishna cannot go home and has dinner with the farmer. The point is, there is so much power in the faith that with it you can tie the hands of even God.
Does it mean faith has reached such heights that gods and goddesses are drinking milk with spoons? Well, I cannot help but feel cynical at this. I’d rather feed a malnourished child with milk than feed it to gods that can have anything they want. Gods I’m sure share my feeling. So something else is happening, and it needs to be investigated.
