Why isn’t Bollywood backing Aamir Khan

I wonder why the Indian film industry not supporting Aamir Khan, especially when he has said nothing wrong. The youth wing of Gujarat BJP is threatening to boycott everything that has something to do with Aamir Khan. Fine, let them go ahead, but then the film industry as a whole should impose a ban on Gujarat too. They should come forward and say that none of their films should be shown in a state that lets the rowdy BJP cadres run amuck and impose their own Talibanist onion. I think just as the Islamic world is blamed for tolerating terrorists among their society, the Gujaratis too should be squarely blamed for tolerating the fanatics and the rioters among them. In fact, if this trend goes on, as responsible Indians, just to put some deterrence, we should threaten to boycott everything that comes from Gujarat.

you should know that Gujarat Elected BJP MLAs by more than 2/3rd Majority. Gujus have no problem with Amir the Actor, gujus have problems with Amir who butt his nose against the Narmada Dam without looking at the points of the two sides involved. he sided with an anti development Megha Patkar who all along has always cried wolf over the Dam since inception and is now to be about 121 mts in Height.now, if the Dam is almost 121 mts, and nothing drastic has happened, what is the objection of M.Patkar and co.; not to have allowed construction even upto this height?

I know, and this is tragic. Tragic because sadly, there is no other choice too. In our country we don’t have much choice. But yes, if people in Gujarat chose the BJP due to some ideological factor, then well…hmm…I have nothing to say.
PMO, this is so strange. The BJP guys either don’t understand English and Hindi or they are hell bent upon indulging in useless things. Aamir has again and again been saying that he is not against the dam — I am, for your information — and he was just saying that people living at the place where the dam is being built should be first rehabilitated. Now what could be wrong in that. They are just trying to create shadow monster because they have nothing concrete to do.

What? Gujarati people do not have brains? My dear friend, GDP of Gujarat is 15.6% vs our contry’s 7.5%.
Center can afford to live because of Gujaratis. If u boycott guju things, country would go bankrupt - but gujus will still manage to survive. It is a self sufficient state.
Amir - spoke against Gujarat because he is muslim. He has grudge against gujarat ever since 2002 riots happened. As if his mega-dammn comments were not enough - he went to a foreign country and spoke against Gujarat govt and Gujarati Hindus. Did he ever spoke against Pakistan for Kashmir where 59K Hindus are butchered. No instead he apologized to Pakistanis for his Sarforsh! so why did he let down the Kashmiri Pandits?
Kudos - Gujus - i am proud of you…. That Muslim in Jam Nagar should be boycotted the same - for all the future releases in that theater. That would be a grand lession. IF boycott is violance then Mahatma Gandhi was the most violent man!

Boycott is certainly not violence, but forcibly preventing people from doing what they should be able to do, legally, definitely is violence, and if you don’t find it violent, then there is no point in you trying to explain yours and your fellow Gujaratis’ stand on riots in general and Aamir Khan in particular. Your state has gradually grown into a fanatical hotpot.
And no state, and no country can survive in isolation. If you guys were so “self-sufficient”, you wouldn’t be crying horse over getting water from another state.

The entire controversy seems laughably absurd away from India (or perhaps, away from Gujarat). Aamir Khan expresses his personal view that displaced farmers be compensated - a sensible viewpoint - and his film is boycotted? I’m afraid that makes no sense. On top of that the contention that his opinion is motivated by his being a muslim (and having a vendetta against the Gujarat government) demonstrates a lack of willingness to actually think about the topic at hand. Perhaps if his comments were insulting or were inciting hatred, a boycott would be appropriate. However, this is just intolerance (and perhaps personal dislike) running wild. India confuses me that way sometimes. Every time I think it’s becoming more open minded and tolerant, something like this happens.

being a Muslim of Pakistan I am amazed to know people living in india still discuss about Pakistani muslims and India’s Indus when you people will going to underst………. these are just a topic to clash out between muslims and hindus ……….. we eat the same meal which u do we take the same breagth which u do we wear the same clothes which u do …. then why amir khan will point out hindus or gujraties think over it .. pathetic sense of humour who really think that amir khan is a muslim thats why he counts muslims superior ……

If the State of Gujarat is banned from Bollywood, the entire Bollywood would go into the shitter! Gujaratis have made Bollywood. Gujaratis are responsible for more than 50% of Bollywood. Who do you think owns Hindi Cinema and Bollywood? It’s the Gujaratis! Gujaratis also make up the largest Non-Marathi population of Mumbai. Like Aamir Khan said, his Fanna lost more than 3 corre rupees because of its ban in Gujarat. That’s more than 2/3 of the budget of the film! Gujaratis are what’s keeping Hindi Cinema alive.
Gujarat Zindabad!

Of course Gujarat should be Zindabad because it is a part of India :-). But I don’t think a single state can destroy an industry.

Yes it can!
Here are a few of the many Gujarati people that have been an integral part in keeping Mumbai’s Film Industry alive.
