Once you get hooked to FireFox it’s difficult to work with any other browser. I just checked Safari for Windows beta version and I totally agree with this article in Wired titled Who in Their Right Mind Would Run Safari on Windows?. Safari, at least on Windows, looks quite a “base” browser compared to FireFox, Opera, and even the buggy Internet Explorer. The author in the Wired article rightly says:
the initiative seems to rely on a domino theory fueled by infatuation. Apple is hoping there are Windows users so in love with their iPods and iTunes that they will also download Safari. Then they’ll fall in love with that, and the next thing you know they’ll be down at the Apple Store fishing for their credit cards.
Could be the case. Well, I have neither used the iPod nor iTunes so I’m not crazy about Apple products. And seeing the browser, I wonder why some people call it the best browser in the world (I can’t recall where I read this statement). After being used to FireFox Safari looks quite suffocating. All my plugins that I use on daily basis are missing too, and I’m not motivated enough look the Safari versions. When I have lots of disposable money I do plan to by one of those iMac sort of laptops though.

The only reason I’d use it is to debug webpages that I designed. It’s nice to be able to see how a page will be rendered in different browsers, and now there’s a way for a Windows user (like me) to see how a Mac user will see my pages.

Yes, you are right. I too have all major browsers installed on my computer precisely for this reason.

Yes. Why use Safari on Windows? I agree there is no reason to use it, but you know you had to try it–for the same reason you tried Netscape, and Mozilla and Firefox. However, I agree, it falls way short of expectations. I have a mac and I use Firefox on that also.
