Ever since I’ve resumed my vocal riyaz I’ve been trying to get up early. And for early I mean somewhere between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM. So yesterday I was thinking, if I can somehow manage to bed at around 12:30 AM and get up at around 6:30 AM, it’ll be very nice in terms of having more time for early-morning singing practice, reading the news paper, and then starting my work by 10:30 AM so that in the evenings I can be free to spend time with the family, or reading something. But exactly at these times Vasu seems to have her on agenda.
When I was thinking all these things mentioned above, it was 11:00 PM and she was sound asleep. Then she woke up at 11:30, and then only slept at 4:30 in the morning. By the time Alka and I went to bed, it was past 5:30 and there was light outside.
The biggest downside of sleeping at day-break is that you end up having a disturbed, prolonged sleep. There are doorbells, there are telephone calls, there are doorbells again, and then there are honks, and then there are knocks on the door, and there is a telephone call again. The brain stubbornly tries to cling to sleep but the outside world insists upon keeping you awake. Vasu is the only who sleeps undisturbed.
Consequently, we woke up in the afternoon. And I’m still feeling sleepy.
