The quota violence spreads to other cities

Gujjar protests are spreading to other cities now. I saw in TV the crowds of Gujjars burning the effigies of Vasundhara Raje Scindia in Delhi, Haryana, Meerut, and of course Rajasthan. It seems every party wants it share of the quota slime. The BJP government had promised the Gujjar community before the elections that their community will be accorded an SC/ST status if the BJP came to power. The promise was conveniently forgotten and hence the ongoing violence that has so far claimed 13 lives. Many policemen have been maimed. When will the proponents of the quota system learn (or accept) that they are creating chaos in the country by pitching communities against each other.

After the initial “royal” dilly-dallying the Raje government has invited the Gujjar community for talks. Vasundhara Raje, being a haughty royal (she’s I guess a queen or something of a princely state called Gwalior) must be wondering how dare these mere mortals protest so vehemently against her.

Frankly, the Gujjar community no way qualifies an SC/ST tag. It is not an oppressed community and in fact people fear them and generally avoid confronting them. Most of the dacoits originate from the Gujjar community (this may give an impression that they are oppressed and hence often have to take to arms to seek justice and revenge). The Delhi Police Force is full of Gujjars. They are a very aggressive people. Have a look at the protesting crowds in your TV and you’ll know what I’m trying to say. When you see them protesting on TV, you’ll notice they have this strange fetish of lighting fires and stomping upon them or hitting the burning things with sticks and slippers. This was evident in 100% footages. I don’t like to say that, but they all look so abominable.

Instead fighting for the quota pie the Gujjar community should focus on education and reforms. They should give up lurking in the semi-outlaws realms and start living like normal, law-abiding citizens.
