The Public Prosecutor of the BMW Case dropped

The law has become a mockery in our county and the recent NDTV expose of the prosecutor-defense nexus in the BMW hit and run case re-iterates the stagnation. Consequently the public prosecutor, IU Khan, has been dropped. Recently I was reading in the newspaper how, despite the judge having reservations, the public prosecutor had summoned a witness about whom it was sure that he would turn hostile; and he did. He refused that the person he saw getting out of the driving seat after the accident was present in the court.
It seems, like the Jessica Lal case, unless the media puts pressure, nothing much is going to happen. The prosecution has been dragging its feet for so many years, and even the police, instead of persecuting, is protecting Sanjeev Nanda (the grandson of former Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nanda) by mucking up the evidence with great expertise.
If you don’t know who Sanjeev Nanda is, he’s the guy who mauled six people, including 3 policemen, with his BMW car when he drove through a police check post with great speed. At a small distance he stopped the car to check what damage had been done to it. He saw a few bodies still stuck under the car. Without caring whether those people were dead or alive, he drove to a friend’s place where the car was washed. No, this not a scene from the Urban Legend movie, it’s an urban legend in itself.

This is an excellent opportunity for Indian judicial system to come clean - if the nexus is proved - the culprits must get punishment - indeed its a mockery of justice - but a wake up call to set things right.
