Some good came out of it

Despite all the inane rhetoric one of Alka’s earlier posts generated it all culminated into something really fantastic, as more and more people are coming forward to help that kid. She talked to the kid’s father yesterday on phone, and he was really overwhelmed by the response. As I always say, and will keep on saying, the world goes on because of selected few people, the rest live off their efforts, tanding by the sideway, either cheering or jeering, or doing noting. Here’s what she’s posted on her blog:
I had posted about a couple, writing to the Indian President seeking mercy killing for their son, Vijay Kumar. Their son has been diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia.
Doctors at CMC Vellore and Tata Motors Hospital, where Vijay is admitted, have prescribed a bone marrow transplant - the cost of which is around Rs 12 lakh, way beyond Ashokâs means.
I am pleasantly surprised that so many of you have expressed concern and want to help this child.
Shivam Vij, Mridula, Satya and Rahul Shukla helped me finding necessary information. And with their help I tracked down NDTV’s Kolkata correspondent Monideepa Banerjie’s mail, who had broken this story. She replied to my mail pretty soon. And with her help, I found out the necessary information:
Vijay’s father Ashok Kumar’s cell no. - 9334629441

ok this one kid, a kumar, is getting all this attention…great…will get blog space on various blogs…great…but why not do something from the bottom up. hmm…how about writing as a group to the indian government about the upliftment for those who sit and beg for treatment but no one touches them cuz they are dalits or simply poor.
i think this kind of charity work is to justify ones laziness and fulfill his/her egos in this empty life, heartless life.
great in a country of over one billion, one kid, who already is probably well off, relatively, cuz his family was able to get attention period, has become the life purpose of empty lives, while these same individuals will ignore the dark, dirty kid who puts his hand out for some change. hmmm

Zhivago, who is stopping you from starting such a blog as you mention in the comment?

hey mridula, i was pretty sure an upper caste hindu was going to thru the ball in my court. u see there are westerners who are concerned about such issues and actually do something about it…usually thru missionary means.
i believe for any society to change it has to come from its own ppl. even as i been stating facts on here, ppl have attacked me, the country i am from and basically labled me unequiped to know anything about india. so u see a blog will mean nothing, as i will get hoards of upper caste hindus calling me something deragatory. its kinda like this, unless ppl do something from within, outsiders are limited if not completely useless. i wish some hindus here in the US would start something.
let me share with you a fact, amnesty internationl till this day is banned in the state of punjab, it has been so since the 70s i think…can i do anything about it? no. have ppl done something about it in the west? yes? did it get amnesty in punjab? no.
so point being that ppl living inside have to shed blood if a revolution is desired in teh benefit of humanity.
but hey mridula…your hindu, india it seems, why dont you strart one? i mean dalits didnt clean my ppls shit for thousands years and its not my ppl who have commited crimes against them and continu to do so, its yours and you have enjoyed the benefits. how about putting on that karama tikka and starting a blog
