If you swallow a seed

If you swallow a seed or if a small seed gets stuck somewhere inside your nose or ear it can sprout and start turning into a plant. No wonder our mother used to scare us that if you swallow a seed along with the fruit a tree will grow out of your stomach.

Mai 4th July 2009 at 12:52 pm: Old song(American folk song, I think): “My mother said not to put beans in my ear…” My favourite verse: “You’ll have to speak up, I’ve got beans in my ear.” No one ever claimed that Americans were short on imagination or long on good sense!

Actually, my French Canadian mother had me convinced that if I swallowed a watermelon seed, I’d have a baby and disgrace us all. I did anyway and I didn’t and the family’s honour remained intact.
