Cutting trees for rugby

06 May
2007

It is totally unjustified (actually it can rarely be justified) to cut down 1,000 trees for the 2010 Common Wealth Games and it’s heartening to know that teachers and students of the North Campus of Delhi University are protesting against the move.

Rugby is not a popular game in India, and even if it were for cricket, it would have been insane to destroy such a big stretch of greenery. If the authorities plan to go ahead with this criminal activity students from all over Delhi, and in fact from all over India should go there and surround the trees to make sure they are not cut.

on one hand, we are spending millions (or billions) of Rs for finding solutions for global warming and on other hand, we are doing this :( . kudos to indian administrative staff/politicians.

I was reading yday only that if global warming continue to be unchecked, by 2030 we will have only 50% of water than present level in our rivers including ganges. and more than half of land (which is fertile now) will become unfertile by then.

no game is bigger than the life of our coming generation. man, dont know when people will learn.

Yes, I think we’ll leave a totally fucked up planet for our kids. Let’s hope they’ll be able to travel to other planets.
