Your closeups are good. If you take a styrafoam cup and put it over the flash unit you will get very even lighting. Try cutting up the cup as needed, and shielding the lens as needed.

I noticed that all of your bug pixs caused Google to post a pest extermination ad on your site ! Also interesting to see all the street signage in your pictures seems to be in English. I didn’t realize how wide spread the usage was, having bener been to India. You have tow cranes and not tow trucks ?
