I generally stay out of such topics but for me to evolve as a writer, I think it’s high time I started dabbling with various human emotions and socio-psychological idiosyncrasies that drive our behavioral, and in this case, sexual proclivities. Actually Alka
directed me to Ashish’s post
that further led me to Sanjukta’s post
.
The original post at Sanjukta’s blog mentions a person who seeks one-night stands because he is unable to share his sexual fantasies with his wife whom he “loves a lot”. Other than the general quandaries about the genuineness of his love, people are also thinking, what stops him from expressing his kinks to his wife? And, despite his love for his wife, is it OK for him to seek concupiscent liaisons from other people, male or female? Here are my thoughts on the subject.

Bauni party in Hindi (or Persian, whatever) means a dwarf party. The BJP party never misses a chance to prove what a narrow-minded, fatalistic party it is. The recent fracas in Gujarat over the film Fanaa
shows the BJP guys are too stupid to be called a national level political party. It is always busy doing small, irrelevant things. Even the sycophantic, dumb guys of the Congress seem smarter compared to them. This was a chance where they could show that they can really manage a country, but no, they have to do their patent churlish act.

The CBSE class 12th board results were declared today and all the channels were going gaga over the toppers in their own small and big ways. Students who had topped their schools or scored 100% in one or two subjects were being interviewed and their beaming parents were being asked how they took care of their wards during the preparations.

I was browsing through the current issue of Digit
and somewhere there was this caption: Make love not war. In a hurry to skip pages I couldn’t read what it was about, but it brought to my mind an old discussion that I once had with a former schoolmate of mine.

Sometimes it becomes very difficult to keep spirits up. The body and the soul want to hit the deepest crevice on the planet for no apparent reason. At these moments I just want to sleep, and the strange thing is, I do fall asleep whenever I hit the bed, even if I’ve gotten up after having slept for good 10 hours. Alka says it’s weakness. I think it is weakness coupled with some wrong posturing that continuously causes pain in my right leg and the right sole while I’m sitting on my chair. Within a couple of hours it drains away all the energy I have. This affects my work, and the continuously augmenting backlog causes strange psychological escapism. Eventually I arrive at such a pass when I neither want to work, nor want to write. I just want to go to sleep; I don’t even feel like watching TV. But I like to read.

Our government in India never misses a chance to project itself as a secular government, even at the cost of curbing literature and performing arts. India has the distinction of being the first country to ban The Satanic Verses, and I think it was this step that metamorphosed a spark into a flame resulting in a fatwa against Salman Rushdie.

The dalits and the backward classes have 4 kinds of enemies in this country: the upper caste perpetrators who have treated them miserably for thousands of years and still want to maintain the status quo; the politicians like Arjun Singh and VP Singh who indulge in vote bank politics at their cost; people who claim to espouse their cause such as Laloo, Mayawati, Kancha Ilaiah, etc. who in the name of justice either exploit their vulnerabilities to fill their own coffers or become intellectual messiahs for the sheer psychological perversity; and they themselves by continuously letting the others make an ass of them. These thoughts have been triggered by Kancha Ilaiah’s article that appeared in today’s edition of The Asian Age. To access the article you’ll need to use Internet Explorer, and from there, click on “Opinions” where you’ll find Ilaiah’s article.

On of the most famous bhajans in Indian cinema ?? ???? ??? ???? ?? ?? (my heart aches to meet Lord Sri Krishna) was solely created by 3 Muslims. The bhajan was written by Shakeel Badayuni, the music for it was composed by the recently deceased Naushad Ali and the composititon was based on raag Malkauns
, and it was sung by none other than Mohammad Rafi.
A series of adverse contretemps have been keeping me away from my regular writing. First it was the mismanagement of work, then Vasu’s (my 9-month-old daughter) illness and her subsequent reaction to an ill-advised antibiotic, and as a result of all this, a big pile of work-related backlog. Her illness, prolonged by the reaction, was the most excruciating experience I have had in the recent years.
